Alfredo e Ada
About This Spot
Stepping into Alfredo e Ada feels like slipping into a warm embrace of Roman tradition, where the hum of shared stories and clinking glasses fills a modest, bustling room. Nestled in the heart of Rome on Via dei Banchi Nuovi, this cozy neighborhood restaurant invites you to slow down and savor moments as much as the food itself. The pace here is unhurried, yet lively—an authentic gathering spot where locals and travelers alike find themselves seated at communal tables, sparking unexpected connections over plates crafted with care.
The atmosphere is straightforward and welcoming, marked by the comforting aromas of home-cooked Italian dishes that unfold across the table. Rather than a formal dining experience, here you find an unpretentious celebration of flavor and tradition—rich, hearty stews, fresh pasta with simple, honest sauces, and seasonal vegetables prepared in ways that feel both familiar and rooted in the city’s culinary heritage. The wine flows simply but thoughtfully selected to complement the deep, rustic flavors on the menu.
What stands out at Alfredo e Ada is its genuine sense of place—where food becomes a bridge to Rome’s everyday rhythms and the subtle joy of sharing time around a common table. It’s a spot that feels equally like a home away from home and a crossroads of stories, where laughter might mingle with the soft clatter of utensils and the murmur of neighbors turned momentary friends. For those seeking an experience rich with local spirit and the soulful simplicity of Roman cooking, Alfredo e Ada offers a quietly memorable encounter that lingers beyond the last bite.

We found this restaurant on Google Maps while we were still at home. The reviews said it was one of the few places in Rome serving traditional Italian cuisine. We decided to visit for lunch. Everything was excellent – ravioli, artichokes, and tripe ala Romana. A great place if you want a good meal and don't mind strangers sitting at your table. Believe me, you can make new and surprising friends this way :) It's also worth mentioning that the restaurant has been run by the same family for years. The service is incredibly friendly.

Food was absolutely incredible, everything arrived very promptly, menu is very well designed, simple, delicious. Wine simple and very good as well. Kids aged 4 and 6 were happy too. Cannot imagine better lunch then this while in Rome.

We had the best Italian food here! One of the few places in Rome that stands out, very local and friendly and the food nonna home cooked.

Food was great. The oxtail stew was amazing. The pasta was fresh, the arrabbiata and cacio e pepe was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone wanting to sit, enjoy good food and be social.

Went two days in a row to this lovely restaurant, definitely the most memorable meals of the trip to Rome solely based on flavor. It gets busy around 8pm so get there at open or a little later, no wait if you’d like to dine outside but no heaters or blankets. Must try dishes: Cacio e Pepe, Meatballs, Ravioli and the Arrabiata if you’re craving some heat. There are no dessert options but plenty of places down the street for gelato, pastries or tiramisu.

The eggplant parmigiana was, without question, the best I’ve ever tasted—rich, tender, and unforgettable. If you ever find this little gem, go with someone you adore. Share a carafe of red wine, indulge in the cacio e pepe, the delicate ravioli, and the luscious lasagna. It’s a meal made for falling in love.

Spectacular food. It’s not touristy, there’s plenty of Italian people and that’s a good thing! The service is amazing, so fast and the staff incredibly friendly and kind. But the food. The food is beyond delicious, one of the nest lasagna I’ve ever had in my life. And the arrabiata was to die for, unbelievable!! Come and enjoy authentic Italian cuisine here

I cannot say enough good things about this place! First, the menu is always handwritten, with only a few tables inside and outside. We got there early and were able to grab a table outside. It is located on a quieter street which was really perfect for a calm dinner. The staff were really friendly and the house wine was delicious. I got the ravioli with eggplant and tomatoes and my husband got the Amatriciana pasta. We were both really happy with our meals! I highly recommend this restaurant!
